Why I love a double cleanse
Double cleansing has been around for a while but I often get asked if it’s necessary… no matter the skin type my answer is always YES! Whether you’re a makeup wearer or not, double cleansing ensures that you’re removing all SPF, oil, dirt and grime from the day.
If you are someone who wears makeup or a tinted moisturizer I recommend doing a pre-cleanse prior to your double cleanse — It sounds like a lot but products with any type of coverage cling onto the skin more and to get the most out of your skincare products you want a completely clean face. If you’re not wearing makeup you would go straight into the first cleanse to break down your SPF products and any dirt / oil on the face. Lastly your 2nd cleanse is going to be an active cleanser that supports your routine and goals. For example, a glycolic based cleanser is used in an anti-aging routine, a mandelic acid cleanser is used in a mild acne / brightening routine… for help with choosing a cleanser, send us a message!
Pre-cleanse: break down makeup so it’s easier to remove. I prefer either a wipe or an oil for this step.
1st cleanse: remove remaining makeup, oil and SPF. I love a cream formula for this step but gel works also, it’s dependent on your skin type!
2nd cleanse: finish cleansing the face with an active cleanser to treat specific concerns (could be brightening, exfoliating, acne targeting etc)
